VISION 450/550 ELEVATOR

Description   Specifications   Colors & Options

Vision 450 and 550 home elevators are pneumatic lifts operating with a vacuum concept. Unlike most residential elevators, Vision 450 and 550 require no pit, machine room, or hoist way and have cylindrical elevator cabs with panoramic visibility. Instead of a guide rail or cable, the elevator has a driving machine consisting of turbines that remove the air from the top of the car and, as a result, the car moves in an upward direction. No ropes, pulleys, chains, or counterweights are used, and a safety valve is located at the top of the car to act as a top switch so the cab knows where to stop on certain floors. Instead of using a pit, the elevator cab sits at floor level at the bottom and, for each floor stop above, is held in place by mechanical locks.

The Vision 450 has a 450lb capacity and moves at 30 fpm. The elevator car has a 32 inch interior diameter, a 39 inch outside diameter, and a 77 inch interior height. The elevator can travel 30 feet with up to three stops. The 550 model is similar but larger. The cab for Vision 550 has a 47 inch interior diameter, an outside diameter of 54 inches, and moves at 25 fpm. Unlike the Vision 450, 550 is wheelchair accessible.

Installation for both 450 and 550 models should take two days. Installation works best with an open floor plan, but before installation, the customer should have the site prepared with permanent power and floor cutouts. Also, a functional telephone jack needs to be near a power disconnect box, and the power supply must come from above or below the planned space for the home elevator. However, because no hoist way construction is needed for a Vision elevator, the homeowners installing a residential elevator will be saving $15,000.
