Nationwide Lifts - America's leader in home elevators

1974: Andrew ‘Bud’ Darnley, Sr. started Atlas Elevator Company, Inc, a commercial elevator company in Buffalo, New York. Bud’s ‘work hard or go home’ and ‘the customer comes first’ maxims were instilled in family members and employees. His daughter and five sons worked for Atlas Elevator for many years. The company continued to grow until it was acquired by Otis Elevator Company in 2002. 1993: Andrew Darnley, Jr. started Barrier Free Elevators in Glens Falls, New York. This company currently services commercial elevators from Albany to Lake Placid. With 36 years of experience in the elevator industry, Andrew is the mentor to mechanics from both Barrier Free Elevators and Nationwide Lifts. Andrew recently retired from elevator construction and maintenance. He is now a QEI Certified Elevator Inspector, licensed to provide commercial and residential elevator inspection services across all 50 states 1998: Andy and Thomas Darnley launched a company to focus primarily on residential lifts. The strong market for home elevators made for rapid company growth. This encouraged them to add more products such as dumbwaiters, stairlifts and wheelchair lifts. They also gave the company an Internet presence, and Nationwide Lifts was born. Hard work and excellent customer service when it comes to elevator units has helped Nationwide Lifts grow year after year. Today there is a corporate office on each coast and a network of local offices across the country.
