All Apex models can function indoors or outside and, with additions, can be used in residential and commercial buildings. A wheelchair lift can be almost as economical as building a ramp but with many more safety features. In some cases, such as with the customized model wheelchair lift, the Apex 750+, the wheelchair lift can be made to seem like a smaller elevator.

All models use a "continuous pressure method," with a button to indicate stops and starts. None of these models need machine rooms, like an elevator. Although use a hydraulic system, the wheelchairs run on 115 VAC, which is also much easier to wire for power than a machine room.
